I agree with the comparison, but disagree with the conclusion. You named 3 types of loss in an electrical circuit- inductance, resistance, and capacitance. 2 of those (inductance and capacitance) are not type of energy loss, they are types of energy storage. As far as cars go, a flywheel doesn't sap power, it stores it. At least that's how the physics part of it goes. I'll let everyone come to their own conclusion if they think having a lighter flywheel is a benefit to them.

I pretty much agree with everything else that you said. When talking about rotational momentum the diameter is a very big factor. Driveshafts have a very small diameter so the affect won't be much. Wheels, on the other hand, are large in diameter AND very heavy, so they'd have a tremendous influence on rotational inertia. Yet people spend money on carbon fiber driveshafts then skimp on money and put large, heavy wheels on their car. Makes no sense.
